EcoLogic Moisture-In Wins NRHA Gold Award!

October 1, 2012

The Liquid Fence Company wins its third consecutive NRHA Packaging and Merchandising Gold Award

(Blakeslee, PA)— The Liquid Fence® Company’s new  EcoLogic Moisture-In anti-transpirant foliar spray is poised and ready to beat the competition in a market that has long had only one recognizable anti-transpirant. And now, to help it out-shine the competition, Moisture-In has received The Gold Award for Packaging Design at the 2012 NRHA (North American Hardware Association) Packaging and Merchandising Awards.

Like wrapping plants in a clear, strong membrane, EcoLogic Moisture-In Anti-Transpirant Foliar Spray protects plants from drying out due to…

  • Transpiration caused by summer heat and drought
  • Desiccation due to winter winds and frozen ground
  • Transplant shock: Digging, uprooting and replanting

Moisture-In can even help extend the beauty and freshness of cut Christmas greens through the season.

In test results published in the report “Antidesiccant Compounds Improve the Survival of Bare-root Deciduous Nursery Trees,” by the Journal of the American Society for Horticultural Science, Moisture-In was proven most effective in reducing water loss and improving transplant survival when tested against 18 other anti-transpirants.

“We’re extremely excited to bring Moisture-In to the market. It’s an all-around great product: most effective anti-transpirant available, easy-to-use, biodegradable,” stated Paul Grlica, Director of Operations at The Liquid Fence Company, “and with our award-winning package and affordable price, we know it will be a big seller for us”. With pride, Mr. Grlica went on to say, “Our packaging design is consistently second to none in the industry”.

The Liquid Fence Company is no stranger to the NRHA Packaging and Merchandising competition. It was awarded the same honor in 2011 for its Deer & Rabbit Repellent Granular and in 2010 for FreezePruf Frost Protector for Plants.

Recognizing greatness, big and small!

April 5, 2011

BRODHEADSVILLE, PA: We just announced our first Asset to the Planet! Congratulations to Pat Stone creator and editor of Green Prints Magazine and, now, a recognized Asset to the Planet!

What’s an Asset to the Planet? It’s an honor we are bestowing on special people, businesses, or organizations.  Maybe they’re doing good deeds, maybe they’re a pleasure to do business with, or maybe they’re just plain nice.   We believe it’s time to recognize them.

Who are we? We’re The Liquid Fence Company and we’ve spent the last 13 years creating an expanding line of eco-friendly animal repellents and gardening related products including America’s #1 selling Deer & Rabbit Repellent.  We’re a small Made-in-America company, happily (and successfully) making “green” products in the “Go Green” lawn and garden industry.

Deb Talarico, creative director for The Liquid Fence Company sums up why we created Asset to the Planet this way, “Every now and then you come across someone who seems to go the extra mile, do the right thing or make your day a little sunnier.  We’re not talking about the next Gandhi – we’re talking about everyday people that deserve a ‘thanks’ for their dedication and contribution to our world.”

Why Pat Stone? In a world of instant gratification and digital imagery, Pat uses his very unique Green Prints Magazine to highlight the human element of gardening and to showcase traditional artists and illustrators.  Learn more about Pat and his “Weeder’s Digest” click here.

Who’s next? Every month we will be choosing a new Asset to the Planet.  So if you know a person or organization who makes the world we live in just a little bit more inhabitable, nominate them to be the next Asset to the Planet!  At the end of the year we’ll have our fans, followers, and readers vote for the year’s favorite Asset to the Planet.

Give Armadillos the Boot!

March 8, 2010

Coming Spring 2010: New Armadillo Repellent from Liquid Fence Saves Lawns and Gardens from Destructive Armadillos!

BRODHEADSVILLE, PA — From Florida to Oklahoma, Missouri to southern Indiana, armadillos are moving across America, damaging landscapes and gardens — one yard at a time.

The armor-plated mini tanks can turn your lawn and landscape into a battlefield and ruin thousands of dollars in valuable plants, landscape and flowerbeds.

Now The Liquid Fence® Company is commanding these mini tanks to “Move on out!”

From the company that brings you the #1-selling deer and rabbit repellent comes a new armadillo repellent that’s guaranteed to keep these pesky critters from destroying landscapes and gardens.

Digging machines! As solitary, nocturnal foes, armadillos forage at dusk and dig burrows that can extend up to 25′ long, disrupting root systems of trees, shrubs and ornamentals.

The snout-wielding insectivores dig up lawns, poking under loose leaves, and burrowing in gardens for their preferred food of choice: insects, grubs, mole crickets, earthworms, caterpillars, beetles, and more.

Since one armadillo is capable of maintaining up to 12 burrows, the damage to lawns and gardens and commercial farms and nurseries can be substantial. To compound the damage, their frenzied digging can damage concrete slabs and weaken your home’s foundations.

Burrows be-gone! You can try eliminating their food source of insects and grubs with pesticides that need several applications and may be toxic to beneficial insects and your plants, pets and family. Or use an all-natural animal repellent like the new Liquid Fence Armadillo Repellent that gives them a belly-ache, seeking food elsewhere.

The long-lasting, non-gel formula won’t clog sprayers and is as easy-to-apply as watering your lawn. And it’s earth, family and pet-friendly, and safe on all vegetation.

Liquid Fence Armadillo Repellent joins the company’s expanding line of environmentally-friendly garden products and repellents and is available in ready-to-use quart, gallon, and the convenient 2.5 gallon concentrate that covers approximately 50,000 square feet. Homeowners and growers will find the new armadillo repellent available in late spring at garden centers everywhere.

With the right repellent, you can win the battle against these armored pests, and declare victory over your land!

FreezePruf Awarded 2010 MGA Green Thumb Award

January 15, 2010

New Scientific Breakthrough Frost Protection Spray for Plants Wins 2010 Mailorder Gardening Association‘s Green Thumb Award

BRODHEADSVILLE, PA — The awards keep rolling in for The Liquid Fence® Company as they add another feather-in-their cap: the 2010 MGA Green Thumb Award for FreezePruf™ – the revolutionary new frost protector spray for plants.

The Green Thumb is the second esteemed award FreezePruf has received, having garnered “Best in Show” at the 2009 IGC Show. The Liquid Fence Company is no stranger to the Green Thumb, winning two of the coveted product awards in 2009 for their Liquid Net for Pets and Liquid Fence Mole Repellent Worms. The multi-award winning company continues to lead the industry with earth-friendly products that are guaranteed to work.

The announcement was made at the recent MGA Winter Conference in Baltimore where FreezePruf™ took top honors in the Tools, Supplies and Accessories division for outstanding new garden product available by mail or online.

“A panel of independent garden communicators thought FreezePruf was one of the most innovative and unique garden products for 2010,” says Randy Schultz, of the Mailorder Garden Association.

Developed by botanists, the eco-safe spray protects ornamentals, fruit and vegetables from frost and freeze damage. It improves a plant’s natural cold tolerance from 2 to 9 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on the variety of plant, helping to extend its growing season by a couple of weeks in early spring and/or late fall.

“We’re honored to be awarded the 2010 MGA Green Thumb Awards for FreezePruf,” says Edward Abraham, president of The Liquid Fence Company. “It’s always extremely gratifying to receive this kind of influential industry recognition.”

The winning products were selected based on uniqueness, technological innovation, ability to solve a gardening problem or provide a gardening opportunity, and potential appeal to gardeners.

The awards are sponsored by the Mailorder Gardening Association, the world’s largest nonprofit association of companies that sell garden products directly to consumers.

Award-winning Bio-degradable CowPots now Available in New Sizes and Prices for Gardeners & Growers

December 30, 2009

BRODHEADSVILLE, PA — Good things come in earth-friendly packages. CowPots, the biodegradable ‘pots you plant’ that make planting simple and gardening fun, are now available in new conveniently-sized pots and flats.

The multiple award-winning growing pots from The Liquid Fence® Company has made it easier for growers and gardeners to get seedlings off to a healthier, stronger start.

“Gardeners and growers alike love our CowPots and when they asked us for additional sizes– we listened,” says Matt Freund, the Connecticut dairy farmer who along with his brother Ben, invented the nifty pots.

Besides the currently available 3 inch CowPots in 12 packs and 4 inch CowPots in 12 packs, now gardeners can grab the 3 inch CowPots in 6-cell flats with three flats per package at their favorite garden center.

Along with the upgrades in sizes, they’ve downsized the prices! “Through new advances in production techniques, we’re now able to pass the savings on to the consumer and offer CowPots at lower prices,” says Edward Abraham, president of The Liquid Fence Company. “So besides helping the planet, CowPots are helping the economy!”

And for commercial growers who want the best start for their plants, 5 new sizes of CowPots are available in bulk: 5 inch square and round pots, and 6 cell flats now join the already popular 3 and 4 inch square pots.

Gardeners and growers love them because they save steps, time and resources. They’re odor-free, non-toxic and the perfect good-for-the-earth growing pot!

Made with 100% renewable composted cow manure, these handy pots for seedlings save time, are packed with the goodness of manure, and allow young roots to breathe and grow out the sides and bottoms, producing sturdier, healthier plants.

And the added convenience of planting these pots directly into the ground without having to deal with recycling or disposing of plastic is a real time and money-saver.

It’s no surprise that the awards and accolades keep piling up, the The Mail Order Gardening Association’s Green Thumb Award and Joe Lamp’l’s “Best of the Must-Haves for 2008.”

Mike Rowe of The Discovery Channel’s “Dirty Jobs” said it best during his CowPots feature: “Brown is the new green!”

Retail and commercially sized CowPots, new from The Liquid Fence Company, are available at
